
Our Pastor

Pastor Louis Brooks Harrison is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the eldest child of five siblings (Neka, Kyle II, Mayah, and Melina). He was born to Pastor Louis Harrison Jr. (Sheryl) of Austin, TX and Attorney Donita Brooks of New Orleans, LA on December 14, 1979. Pastor Harrison was baptized at the age of 6 at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of his grandfather, the late Pastor John Austin Brooks, Sr. alongside his grandmother, Kathleen Lemon Brooks. There, he played the drums and was an active member in the Youth Ministry.
Pastor Harrison was educated in the Jefferson Parish Public School System, and received many awards and scholastic honors, including the title, National Champ in Linguistics for Academic Games and was also a thriving student in the gifted and talented program.
Pastor Harrison is a graduate of St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, LA and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. He is a member of the Gamma Rho chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and is currently employed with the United States Department of Agriculture.
On August 29, 2010 at the age of 30, he willingly accepted the call to preach. His favorite passage of scripture is Psalm 23:1, “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want”. Pastor Harrison was ordained and installed as Pastor of the Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church of Harvey, LA on February 28, 2014. The ordination and installation ceremony was conducted under the auspices of the Westside Missionary Baptist Association at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, where Pastor’s great grandfather, the late Clarence Ellis Brooks, was founding pastor.
He has made it his mission to continue to carry the blood stained banner of Jesus Christ. As of July 2016 Pastor Harrison has served as the Executive Secretary for the Ideal Missionary Baptist and Educational Association.
Pastor Harrison is married to Terrah Sheree’ Averette-Harrison and they are the proud parents of two daughters, Demi Jo and Liah Brooks Harrison.
